In 1907, a British Army Officer had an idea to form a club for young men based on good community values and his experiences in the Boar War. That Officer was Lord Baden Powell, and that club is Scouts, which 100 years later is the worlds largest youth organisation and spans nearly every country.
Scouts Australia is the local arm of the movement and offers Scouting to the youth of Australia in 5 Sections:
Scouting is based on the principles of allowing young people to grow to be community-minded citzens by developing thier Physical, Mental, Social, Spiritual and Emotional Skills and Values.
A lot has changed in 100 years from Baden Powells first Camp on Brownsea Island, England but one thing is for sure - No other Youth Movement is so well known or respected. In fact the Scouts Scarf is one of the most instantly recognised icons in the world.
